This class is always the first Saturday morning of the month unless noted otherwise. Class starts with oxford punch at 9 until 12. You will break for lunch and learn traditional rug hooking 1-4. This is a great way to jump in and learn the top two rug Hooking styles that so many are combining now.
Learn to use an Oxford punch to make this little mat featuring a favorite Florida flower – the Hibiscus. You will be taught how to punch with two different weights of wool yarn - bulky weight rug yarn and worsted weight yarns. You will also learn to punch with wool strips (yes, it does look like traditional rug hooking!). Your kit will include all materials needed, and you will have several color selections to choose from for your hibiscus in class. Finished size is roughly 10 in.
Then spend the afternoon learning to do traditional rug hooking! Your kit includes everything you need to complete a small hooked mat as your first learning project. This is a 8x18 that is hand drawn on linen, all your cut wool, you will use your same hoop from the punch class , hook and yarn and binding tape. You only need scissors and we have those for you to use in class. So just show up with a smile really to have fun! Taught by Lynn P. Class runs the first Saturday of every month.
