Introduction to Natural Dyes Class Tues pm
Introduction to Natural Dyes
Natural dyes give beautiful colors! In this class, we will utilize dyes that reflect primary colors and combine them to produce secondaries on the color wheel. Indigo (blue), cochineal (red), and osage orange (yellow) will provide our primaries and secondaries will be produced by overdyeing. We will discuss such topics as dyes versus stains, lightfastness, colorfastness, mordants and modifiers, and the history of each dye used. Each participant will be provided a folder of information, samples to dye in class, and a ring to display their tagged samples.
