These mats are 100% wool and they create a perfect lay out surface for you wool appliqué and penny rugs.  Birch backing adds stability and the nice twisted wire easel hold it slightly slanted to lay out and work from. Due to the adhesive and the wood backing these are NOT intended to be ironed on.
