We do & teach all of these fun arts!
Traditional Rug Hooking, Oxford Punching & Mini Punching
Appliqué, slow stitching, penny rug work, rustic cross stitch and more!
While these might be called “Granny Crafts”
This is NOT your grannies craft work ;)
1. Rug Hooking, we use wool strips cut narrow or yarn
and pull it through linen or monks cloth
backing and you work from the top of your work.
2. Oxford Punching you will use yarn or wool strips and work from the back. Punching down into the monks cloth or linen backing using a special large punch needle
3. Mini Punch you work from the back too but you use embroidery thread or pearl cotton thread and do much finer work and detail using a fine punch needle
4. Appliqué you are doing hand work, penny rugs and intricate design offer many ways to go.
5. Slow stitching is a kind of combo of penny rugs, applique, embroidery and fancy works. This is popular on jackets and shirts!
6. Wool twisting this is so much fun and you can create so many cool things! Wooly Christmas trees, fall sprays, spring branches with lavender and forsythia blossoms and beautiful wreaths to accent a cupboard door or hook!
7. Quillies! I’m not sure where to even start! Ornaments, wreaths, flowers, garlands, even jewelry with quillies mounted in silver pendants!
8. Our “rustic cross stitch” is a rougher version of your typical cross stitch. We are using our own designs and hand dyed merino threads.
You can try them all!
We will have tables set up with something at each station to try
and someone on hand to show and tell!
There is no charge to come on either day and there is no set time schedule. We invite you to drop in and see what we do and try your hand at one or two if you like. We have classes ready to sign up for if you want to really give them a try with your own project!
