OR Jump outside your box and come create a unique piece of art and learn about Molas also! Now you can Do your own thing or do a Mola! Let Michele up your hooking skills with this fun OPEN workshop. Pick your project or do a mola she will work with you to learn and expand!
Michele has opened to class to any project
Let’s jump wayyyyyyy out side our boxes with our first workshop here in South Carolina! We are excited about this one. Well let’s be honest …… we are excited about ALL OF THEM!!!! But this one is very different. It is bright, rich, high contrast and something new, well for us it is 😉 Mola’s….. some say they are Aztec, Indian, African, Mexican….
But the Mola or Molas is a hand-made textile that forms part of the traditional women's clothing of the indigenous Guna people from Panama. Hmmm. Interesting. Want to learn more? Come to class with us! Feb 20-22 or March 6-8 Michele Micarelli will be teaching with us again and the class will focus on Mola’s. The class size will be small, only 12 students for each class session She is designing the patterns along traditional lines and will help you color plan a wild vibrant piece of art that will make a great small table mat, pillow, wall hanging or rug. Or help you create one with your color palette, to work in your home, but with the Molas design theme!
You are welcome to bring any wool you want to use in your Mola design and both Michele and Searsport will have lots for you to work from also.
*** Please note The patterns and wool are not included in the class fee and you will hear from Michele to discuss your design and sizes. She can do a custom design for you also.
Or you can do your own thing too! The patterns sizes we are recommending for class will allow you to easily complete your project and not stuff it in the closet ;)

A 18x18 pattern $68
A 20x20 pattern is $78

****Class includes instruction from Michele for the 3 days, breakfast and lunch each day and some fun treats too. If you need a frame for class please let us know and we will have one for your use at no charge.
Class will start each day at 9 am and go till 4 with a break at noon for lunch
This is included in your class.
This class requires basic Hooking skills or Oxford punching skills.
Please note the pictures are representative of the Molas style of quilting. We will be hooking patterns designed by Michele for the class or a custom design for you!
